Topic Pages
How does a researcher learn about a new subject, beyond skimming Wikipedia? Topic Pages on Semantic Scholar give researchers summaries, important papers, and related topics.
UX Workshop
I led a design workshop with researchers and engineers to create initial wireframes (our "dream" page). We iterated on the next version, highlighting useful content and pairing down sections that were out-of-scope. This design workshop created meaningful dialogue and a deeper sense of ownership. We moved forward with two variations.
Variation 1
This variation focuses on a timeline of papers to read, with information in the sidebar to dive deeper.
Variation 2
This variation puts an emphasis on data visualizations, giving lists of papers and topics.
Usability testing
Our beta test group received an updated version of the topics page each week. This helped researchers in training the A.I. model, as well as points of UX improvements.
